Welcome to Storyslinger!
My renamed-but-familiar newsletter (formerly From the Writer’s Shed)!
First of all, thank you for continuing to subscribe to my free newsletter, for reading my stories (you helped make The Sea at Sunrise an Amazon bestseller!), and for supporting this writerly lifestyle of mine.
A writer without readers is like a sailboat on a windless sea—adrift, railing against the never-approaching horizon.
I recently made the switch from MailChimp to Substack for myriad reasons. But the biggest reason is the ability to publish short fiction and essays and send them out to you or let you access them online.
Substack is simply a great place for writers who want to share their work.
This changes nothing for you, Eternal Reader. You’ll still get my free newsletters telling you what I’m up to, what new books I’m releasing or working on, and my free podcast. So, you’ll still be the first to know about everything I’m doing on the writerly front.
What it adds, however, is the opportunity for me to publish short stories and serial stories, post new podcast episodes, as well as host AMAs, giveaways, and other fan-centered events—all in one place. My first projects include short stories and flash fiction, essays about my experiences and life philosophy, a look at songwriting and song construction, and transcripts of my podcast. You will have the opportunity to become a paid subscriber and get exclusive aspects of the newsletter, or simply continue getting things for free. More to follow when we launch in November!
Again, I really appreciate your support and the fact that you’re still on this journey with me. As a special “Thank You!” to all of you, I’m going to give you a free one-month paid subscription so you can poke around, see what kind of thing’s I’ll be publishing, and get a feel for the paid subscription experience.
Once the first of November rolls around, make sure to go to www.storyslinger.co and see what’s there (I’ll remind you, don’t worry). Plus, you’ll get all the November emails in your inbox. I hope that afterwards you’ll continue to stick around and see what the next months will bring. And maybe you’ll consider remaining a paid subscriber to get even more access to me and support my work.
As always, thank you for being part of the journey!
